The /waypoint Command, Now with Superpowers! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ryph Blackfeather

The Chapter 8 update changed the /waypoint command (hereafter referred to by its shorter form, /wp, also added with that update) to be even more powerful than the little-known /requestw command.

The following is the syntax for the new version:

/wp  zone|-target  color X  Z  Y  name

All parameters are optional.  If they are all omitted, the waypoint is created where your avatar is standing.  The parameters are as follows:

  • Zone is the planet or space zone in which to create the waypoint.  This parameter must be first if used and cannot be used with -target.  The zone must be one of the following names, entered in all lower case as shown:

/wp zone

Tatooine

Note that there is no Mustafarian System, you can only reach Mustafar from interplanetary shuttles traveling from Corellia or Talus, even after Chapter 8.  Instanced areas like the Rraytt Trail didn't make the list even though you can create waypoints there, hopefully these can be added soon.

  • -target creates the new waypoint at the location of the intended (green-bracketed) target.  (Do not omit the leading hyphen!)  Lacking an intended target, the waypoint is created at the location of the mouse (blue-bracketed) target.  If there is no intended or mouse target, the waypoint is created at your avatar's location.  -target ignores X, Z and Y parameters.  This parameter must be the first if used, so it can't be used with the zone parameter.
  • Color sets the color of the waypoint, its pointer, its waypoint monitor text and its radar marker.  It may actually be used in any parameter position except the last.  Valid colors are blue, green, orange, purple, white and yellow; the default color is blue.  It is recommended that the color be positioned just after the zone name or -target for clarity.
  • X, Z and Y are the numeric coordinates of the waypoint.  Z may be omitted if numeric coordinates are given, if it is, it defaults to 0.  (This is not recommended if specifying a space location.)  If Z is specified, it must alway be ordered between X and Y.
  • Name is always the last parameter, if included; it is the waypoint’s name.  If it is omitted, the waypoint is simply named Waypoint.  Standard SWG color or contrast codes are allowed.

Examples:

/wp Talus purple -1368 -731 Unseen University

This creates a waypoint with a purple arrow on Talus at -1368 (X), 37 (0), -731 (Y) and names it Unseen University.  The Z parameter is 0 because it is omitted.

/wp Space_Endor 1317 -455 -2816 \#FF0000Evil Tyrant Spawn Point\#.

This creates a waypoint in the Endor System at 1317 (X), -455 (Z), -2816 (Y), and names it Evil Tyrant Spawn Point (colored red using SWG color codes).
