I find that the easiest way to make money in SWG is to loot, especially when starting out.  You would be suprised how quickly this stuff adds up.  Also, get the free item from the junk dealer (autoloom rugs, etc).  As you loot this stuff will slowly add up and then you can piece them together.  DON'T sell it back to the junk dealer!  Put this rare item up for sale or shout out you have it for sale in a large gathering area (Mos E.) and sell it there.  These will actually go for a couple of mill most the time.  Also, if you have an expansion pack special award and want to part with it (ex AT-RT) they can go for a pretty penny.  Once you move up in the world you can visit people like Xris on Kashyyyk in the Etyyy hunting grounds if you are a combatant and do his bets to make up to $25,000 every 20 minutes by killing certain amounts of creatures.  Also, don't forget, looting in space makes good money too and the mining can be lucrative.

Frankly, I would not sell the unique items you get from purchasing the game, as if you want them later they will be much more expensive.  A few additional ideas:
  • Piloting.  The parts you loot every fourth or fifth ship killed are worth 1000 to 10000 credits to any Chassis Dealer found in most starports.  This can add up fast once you get a ship tough enough to handle the fast spawn points, like the Evil Tyrant spawn point in Endor space or the Blackscales area in Kasshyyyk space.  Naturally, you'll want to save the better ones.
  • Harvesting resources.  The prices that people will pay for even low-quality resources on Tarquinas are ridiculous, and harvesters can collect resources while you sleep.  Use the Tarquinas Inorganics Report to locate new stuff as it appears, inorganics are used more and sell faster.  The cost to harvest a unit of resource is less than 0.2 cpu (credits per unit), so even if you sold resources for 1 cpu (credit per unit), you would make a profit of over 80000 credits per brick (100000 units of any resource).  You can often find buyers willing to pay 5 to 10 cpu.  While traders are more efficient at running harvesters, any character can use them.

To add to the space idea... ASTEROID MINING!!! Some players are paying as much as 75 credits per asteroid unit, and some even more! Easy credits!

Almost forgot another timely idea, once Chapter 5 kicks in. Since looted items, as in junk or seemingly useless armor/weapons, will soon be able to be reverse engineered into Modifier Bits and Power Bits, these simple items may start being worth a lot more within the community!

Also don't forget to take missions from terminals, it's usually about a 5-10 min job and depending on the level you can cash in quick.

Keep your eyes open for rare loots and always always always stack up your loot items that can be stacked.  They can add up quick and sell to a junk dealer.  Especially stims.  Looted weapons also sell well.

Another idea might be to make yourself an entertainer. The grind-to-90 is relatively easy with a macro and charismatic cantina dancers can easily make tips from buffs. Market your mobility and offer USO shows to quest parties. You can also park yourself in a frequent-ly used cloning facility and run a macro  using the cover charge option that is less expensive than the cost of paying the med droid to cure sickness......entertainers have huge money-making potential.

Yes as Ryph said Piloting. Byg also had a good Idea. But Killing Kungas is another way. A droid,Macro, and a good level gun is easy to do.  Smiley
